Sophie Smith – Founder

Sophie founded the Caper Press in order to publish her first collections of poems Not all, but most – which is out now and available to buy from this very website. She has been professionally involved with words of one kind or another since graduating from her Masters in Narrative Environments in 2006 and is (still) writing her first novel. Sophie has an eye for structure and enjoys helping authors tell the very best story they can.
Emily Jones – Editor

Emily translates fiction, non-fiction and (if she has to) poetry from Chinese into English. Emily edits for Caper Press and others. And she has made more than the occasional foray into the world of brand consultancy over the last decade or so. Emily learnt Chinese at Cambridge, Ningbo and Qingdao universities. Her translations include Black Holes, a crime novel by He Jiahong, and many short stories for Pathlight – some of which you can read for free at the Read Paper Republic site.

Founder Authors
Alexandra Fitzsimmons

Alexandra always wanted to be a writer. After studying maths and archaeology at university, she spent a decade developing storylines, and writing and editing text, for museums. She also has written poems, some of which have been published. In between all of that Alexandra embarked on a pretty niche quest: following in the footsteps of the Viking Eric the Red. Her memoir of that journey, called Looking for Eric, will be released next Spring, 2017.
Drew Carr

A boulevardier and bon vivant, Drew Carr began recording his experiences behind the counter at the seedier end of shopping around a decade ago. His memorable, surprising and profoundly human stories of twisted retail will be out soon.
